In the past few days, the construction of the embankment of Qingcaosha Reservoir is stepping up. According to the characteristics of the tides of the Yangtze River Estuary, engineers have specially designed the depth and gate height of the reservoir. In addition to taking advantage of the natural water level difference, during the construction of the Qingcaosha Reservoir's cross-river diversion pipe, engineers also artificially created a water level difference, making the water inlet of Changxing Island slightly higher than the water inlet of Pudong. In this way, using the principle of siphoning, 7 million cubic meters of water flows from Changxing Island to Pudong every day, without the need to build a large pumping station in the middle. The Qingcaosha Raw Water Project has 9 major projects, each of which has energy-saving measures. These measures interact to form a large-scale energy-saving system.
At present, a number of scientific research projects such as the utilization of wind energy in reservoirs have been established. The engineers said that there is still huge potential for the utilization of wind and tidal energy in the Qingcaosha Reservoir. The Qingcaosha raw water project will strive to become a national environmental protection model project.
